Important — Read before using Chronicles of Undead
This End User License Agreement, Official Game Conditions and Data Protection Notice (“EULA”) governs access to and use of Chronicles of Undead — AETERNUS, including COU 6.2, later supported releases and all related Services.
Participation in Chronicles of Undead is voluntary.
The canonical public copy of this EULA is available at https://chronicles-of-undead.com/RPGRules.html.
Before registered use is relied upon as assent, the User must be given reasonable notice of these terms and a reasonable opportunity to access and review the current version.
Where an express acceptance mechanism is presented, the corresponding technical record may identify the express event that actually occurred.
Where no express click is implemented, Chronicles of Undead may record validated use of an official HUD after notice and access to the applicable terms. Such a record evidences validated HUD use and must not be misrepresented as a button click or other express event that did not occur.
By expressly accepting this EULA, or by knowingly continuing to use Chronicles of Undead after receiving reasonable notice and access to the applicable terms where such continued use is legally sufficient, the User agrees to be bound by this EULA and the current Official Game Conditions.
If the User does not agree, the User must discontinue use of Chronicles of Undead.
A technical failure to create or verify an EULA audit record does not by itself establish acceptance, and it does not alter the separate server-authoritative validity of otherwise authorized gameplay transactions.
Nothing in this EULA excludes, restricts or waives any right that cannot legally be excluded, restricted or waived under applicable law.

3. RELATIONSHIP WITH SECOND LIFE
Chronicles of Undead operates within Second Life.
Second Life is operated independently by Linden Lab.
Linden Lab is not the creator, operator, sponsor or party to this EULA.
Chronicles of Undead does not control Second Life infrastructure, accounts, viewers, Region servers, Linden Dollar infrastructure or Linden Lab policies.
Use of Chronicles of Undead requires compliance with all applicable Second Life rules.
4. RULE PRIORITY
The User must comply with:
- mandatory applicable law;
- applicable Linden Lab / Second Life rules and policies;
- applicable Estate, Region and parcel rules;
- this EULA;
- current official Chronicles of Undead Game Rules.
Nothing in this EULA authorizes conduct prohibited by a higher-ranking mandatory rule.
If a Game mechanic conflicts with a mandatory Second Life, Estate, Region or legal restriction, the applicable higher-ranking restriction prevails for that situation.
5. ELIGIBILITY AND MATURITY
The User may participate only where their access to Second Life and the relevant Region is permitted under applicable Linden Lab eligibility and maturity requirements.
Chronicles of Undead contains supernatural dark-fantasy themes.
Game content may include fictional representations of:
- combat;
- hunting;
- supernatural feeding;
- blood;
- death;
- demons;
- vampires;
- supernatural powers;
- hostile interactions;
- fantasy violence;
- horror themes.
The User remains responsible for accessing only content and Regions compatible with their permitted Second Life access level.
6. LICENSE
Subject to compliance with this EULA, the Operator grants the User a:
- personal;
- limited;
- revocable;
- non-exclusive;
- non-transferable;
- non-sublicensable
license to access and use authorized Chronicles of Undead systems for their intended gameplay and roleplay purposes.
The license does not transfer ownership of any part of Chronicles of Undead.
No other right is granted by implication.
7. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
All applicable intellectual-property rights relating to original Chronicles of Undead material remain with the Operator or their respective lawful owners.
Protected material may include:
- Game architecture;
- LSL scripts;
- PHP source code;
- server software;
- APIs;
- protocols;
- database structures;
- database content;
- HUD design;
- user interfaces;
- gameplay logic;
- Game mechanics;
- names;
- logos;
- graphics;
- textures;
- artwork;
- lore;
- written content;
- documentation;
- Missions;
- Crafting systems;
- reward systems;
- House systems;
- progression systems;
- configuration;
- technical security mechanisms.
Use of the Game does not transfer intellectual-property ownership to the User.
8. PROHIBITED COPYING AND REVERSE ENGINEERING
Except where expressly authorized in writing by the Operator or where mandatory law expressly provides otherwise, the User may not:
- copy;
- extract;
- reproduce;
- redistribute;
- resell;
- publish;
- modify;
- clone;
- emulate;
- decompile;
- decode;
- reverse engineer;
- bypass protections;
- commercially exploit;
- create unauthorized interoperable replicas of
Chronicles of Undead systems or protected components.
Nothing in this section excludes a right that applicable mandatory law expressly grants and does not permit to be contractually excluded.
9. SERVER AND API SECURITY
Unauthorized interaction with Chronicles of Undead infrastructure is prohibited.
This includes intentional:
- request spoofing;
- request replay;
- transaction replay;
- forged UUIDs;
- forged event identifiers;
- forged receipts;
- forged authentication;
- forged server responses;
- unauthorized endpoint calls;
- endpoint flooding;
- aggressive automated scanning;
- injection attempts;
- unauthorized database access;
- authentication bypass;
- authorization bypass;
- token extraction;
- token reuse outside its authorized purpose;
- manipulation of HTTP responses;
- impersonation of authorized HUDs or objects;
- creation of unofficial clients designed to bypass Game validation.
A technical vulnerability does not constitute authorization to exploit it.
10. RESPONSIBLE VULNERABILITY REPORTING
If a User discovers a serious vulnerability, duplicate reward condition, server inconsistency or exploitable defect, the User must not intentionally use that defect to obtain an unauthorized advantage.
Potential vulnerabilities should be reported through official support.
Good-faith reporting will be distinguished from deliberate exploitation based on available evidence and circumstances.
11. USER AND AVATAR IDENTIFICATION
Chronicles of Undead may associate the User's Game profile with their Second Life avatar, including the avatar's SL UUID.
The SL UUID may function as a principal technical identifier for server-side Game operations.
A User may not intentionally:
- impersonate another Citizen;
- submit another Citizen's UUID as their own;
- transfer an identity to circumvent restrictions;
- use alternate avatars to circumvent sanctions;
- artificially duplicate progression.
12. SERVER-AUTHORITATIVE ARCHITECTURE
Chronicles of Undead operates as a server-authoritative system.
Persistent Game state is determined by authorized backend validation and authoritative records.
The HUD, LSL objects and viewer are client-side or in-world interfaces and are not by themselves the final source of persistent Game state.
Examples include:
- resource balances;
- Hunt validation;
- rewards;
- Mission progress;
- Crafting transactions;
- inventory;
- Mastery;
- Vault operations;
- House state;
- progression;
- sanctions;
- gameplay status.
13. CLIENT/SERVER DISCREPANCIES
A local HUD message, animation, particle effect, sound, floating text or apparent in-world interaction does not by itself establish that a persistent server transaction was completed.
Second Life and network conditions may cause:
- lag;
- delayed events;
- duplicated viewer feedback;
- HTTP timeouts;
- lost responses;
- delayed synchronization;
- Region script delay.
Where a verified discrepancy exists, authoritative server records may be used to reconstruct or correct the affected Game state.
This clause does not permit the Operator to disregard reliable evidence of an actual server-side error.
Confirmed errors may be reviewed and corrected.
14. FAIR PLAY
Users must not intentionally use:
- cheats;
- unauthorized bots;
- unauthorized macros;
- unauthorized gameplay automation;
- exploits;
- lag manipulation;
- duplicated objects;
- duplicated requests;
- artificial event generation;
- unauthorized scripts;
- forged transactions;
- manipulated client behaviour
to obtain an advantage or interfere with Game integrity.
Automation expressly authorized by a supported Chronicles of Undead system is not prohibited merely because it is automated.
15. DUPLICATED OR INVALID GAME STATE
A resource, reward, item or progression event obtained through:
- exploitation;
- duplication;
- replay;
- forged requests;
- unauthorized automation;
- corruption;
- confirmed technical error
does not become legitimate merely because it temporarily appears in a HUD, object or database state.
Where supported by reliable evidence, invalid Game state may be corrected.
Corrections should be limited to restoring the state reasonably attributable to valid Game activity.
16. COMMUNITY CONDUCT
Chronicles of Undead roleplay does not authorize real-world misconduct.
The User must comply with applicable Second Life and Region rules concerning:
- harassment;
- stalking;
- threats;
- doxxing;
- hate conduct;
- impersonation;
- griefing;
- disruptive behaviour.
Fantasy hostility is not authorization for conduct outside legitimate roleplay or gameplay.
17. GAMEPLAY STATES AND AUTOMATIC EFFECTS
Chronicles of Undead includes automated gameplay mechanics.
Valid events may change the User's Game state automatically.
Such effects may include:
- health changes;
- resource changes;
- cooldowns;
- Hunt consequences;
- Wanted states;
- COMA;
- Death;
- restrictions;
- Mastery effects;
- temporary buffs or debuffs;
- Tournament consequences.
Participation in the Game constitutes acceptance of legitimate gameplay consequences produced according to valid active rules.
18. BLOODLINES AND VIRTUAL ESSENCE
Chronicles of Undead supports supernatural Bloodline mechanics.
Different Bloodlines may interact with virtual vital resources such as:
- Blood;
- Aura;
- Lifesap;
- Essence;
- other future thematic Game resources.
These are fictional gameplay resources.
They are not real biological substances, medical records, financial products or legal currencies.
Legacy internal technical identifiers may temporarily remain in software or databases for compatibility purposes without changing the current public meaning of a Game resource.
19. HUNT AND HUNT MASTERY
Hunt and Hunt Mastery are server-validated Game systems.
Reward eligibility may depend upon:
- valid targets;
- valid server events;
- active Game conditions;
- applicable cooldowns;
- applicable reward thresholds;
- applicable Mastery state.
A failed, rejected or unvalidated interaction does not independently create a reward entitlement.
Intentional artificial generation or replay of Hunt events is prohibited.
Mastery benefits are determined by the active authoritative Game configuration.
20. MISSIONS
Mission progress is determined through eligible server-recognized events.
Chronicles of Undead may operate:
- Daily Missions;
- Weekly Missions;
- special Missions;
- House Missions;
- event Missions;
- other officially supported Mission classes.
The current active Mission catalogue controls current gameplay.
The Operator may activate, deactivate, replace or correct Mission definitions for legitimate reasons including:
- balancing;
- maintenance;
- exploit correction;
- technical compatibility;
- security;
- Game evolution.
Invalid progress generated through exploits or forged events may be removed.
21. CRAFTING
Crafting is governed by authoritative server configuration.
Recipes, ingredient requirements, item eligibility, outputs and consumable effects are determined by the active supported catalogue.
Possession of a legacy item does not create a permanent right to continued support of that item.
Items may be migrated or deprecated where reasonably necessary for:
- Game migration;
- balancing;
- compatibility;
- exploit correction;
- security;
- removal of obsolete mechanics.
A one-use consumable may be consumed following valid server-authorized use.
Duplicate Craft transactions or claim replays are prohibited.
22. UNIVERSAL GAMEPLAY ACCESS TO SUPPORTED ITEMS
Where current Game Rules permit a potion, item or Craft recipe to be used or crafted across Bloodlines, such eligibility is governed by the active server configuration and not by assumptions based solely on an item's lore or historical implementation.
The active technical Game Rules control eligibility.
23. HOUSES
Houses are virtual roleplay and gameplay organizations inside Chronicles of Undead.
House membership does not create:
- a real-world association;
- corporate membership;
- employment;
- partnership;
- ownership rights;
- financial rights.
House titles and roles are Game roles.
House activity may be attributed according to verified membership periods and valid server-recorded events.
Where the Game maintains membership history, events outside the Citizen's actual relevant House-membership period need not be attributed retroactively.
24. HOUSE TREASURY AND HOUSE RESOURCES
A House Treasury or other House resource is a virtual Game resource.
It is not:
- a bank account;
- a deposit account;
- stored legal tender;
- a financial service;
- an investment product.
A Regent, member or other Citizen acquires no real-world ownership claim merely because a Game interface displays a House resource or Treasury balance.
House-resource configuration is governed by the current Game system.
25. VAULT
The Chronicles of Undead VAULT is a Game mechanic for supported virtual resources.
It is not a bank, payment institution, deposit service or investment service.
Deposit, withdrawal and transfer functionality is governed by Game eligibility conditions.
Restrictions may apply according to active Game rules, including legitimate gameplay conditions such as Hunt Duty.
No Vault balance constitutes a claim for payment of real-world money by the Operator.
26. VEILED TORPOR
Veiled Torpor is not Death.
Veiled Torpor is a voluntary temporary supernatural hibernation state within the Game.
During a valid active Veiled Torpor period, current Game Rules may suspend normal functions including:
- Hunt;
- Feed;
- other active survival mechanics;
and may suspend normal Essence Decay where the active Torpor configuration provides such protection.
Applicable durations, restrictions and any required payment must be displayed through an authorized Torpor system before activation.
A visual interaction with a Torpor object does not alone establish a completed Torpor transaction.
Server validation controls activation.
At the end of the authorized period, normal gameplay conditions may resume according to current Game Rules.
27. DEATH AND REVIVAL
Death is a gameplay state.
It is separate from:
- Veiled Torpor;
- voluntary account termination;
- Game-profile deletion;
- temporary suspension;
- permanent Game ban;
- deletion of a Second Life account.
Revival requirements are governed by the active authorized revival system.
Any payment or virtual-resource requirement associated with revival must be disclosed through the applicable Game mechanism.
Continuous DEAD inactivity
A Citizen whose Authoritative Server State remains continuously DEAD for ten consecutive days is classified as inactive for the purposes of this rule.
On or after the tenth consecutive day, the Game will initiate an inactivity warning through one or more supported channels, which may include an in-world message, an owner-private HUD notification or local chat. Second Life or network delivery failures may prevent receipt even where the server records a valid delivery attempt.
The warning period continues through the end of the fourteenth consecutive day. If the Citizen remains continuously DEAD, the Game profile becomes eligible for permanent deletion from the active Game system from the fifteenth consecutive day onward.
A valid server-recognized revival before deletion interrupts the continuous DEAD period. A later DEAD state begins a new consecutive period.
The inactivity clock does not run during a period in which the Authoritative Server State recognizes a valid supported protection that expressly suspends inactivity consequences, including an active Veiled Torpor period or an active Amulet Shield Decay. Possession of an object, an animation, a local message or an unvalidated payment does not by itself establish protection.
Veiled Torpor remains distinct from Death. This clause does not state that a Citizen already in DEAD status can activate Torpor unless the active authorized Torpor system actually permits that transition.
28. LINDEN DOLLARS
L$ are part of the Second Life platform and are governed by Linden Lab's terms and systems.
Chronicles of Undead does not issue Linden Dollars and does not redefine their platform status.
Where Chronicles of Undead accepts an L$ transaction for a Game function, that transaction may grant or activate the specific Game benefit presented to the User, subject to successful validation.
Chronicles of Undead virtual resources are separate from Linden Dollars.
29. PAYMENT TRANSPARENCY
Before a paid Game transaction is initiated, the applicable authorized system should communicate the relevant price or requirement.
A payment does not authorize benefits beyond those associated with the applicable transaction.
A forged, duplicated, replayed or technically invalid payment notification may be rejected.
A successfully completed payment may be investigated where reliable evidence indicates:
- duplication;
- fraud;
- technical corruption;
- transaction mismatch.
Mandatory payment and consumer-protection rights remain unaffected.
30. REFUNDS, WITHDRAWAL AND MANDATORY CONSUMER RIGHTS
Nothing in this EULA excludes refund, conformity, withdrawal or other consumer rights that applicable mandatory law grants.
Subject to those rights and applicable Linden Lab rules, a refund is not automatically due solely because:
- the User later changes their gameplay preference;
- gameplay is subsequently balanced;
- an item later becomes subject to legitimate balancing;
- the User is legitimately sanctioned for misconduct.
Confirmed:
- duplicate charges;
- failed delivery;
- incorrect charges;
- Operator-side transaction errors
may be submitted for review.
Where applicable law requires prior express consent or acknowledgment before immediate performance of paid digital content or services can affect a statutory withdrawal right, any such loss or limitation of the withdrawal right applies only if the legally required conditions have actually been satisfied.
This EULA does not by itself manufacture a waiver that applicable law requires to be separately and expressly obtained.
31. GAME EVOLUTION AND BALANCING
Chronicles of Undead is a persistent and evolving RPG.
The Operator may modify Game systems only for legitimate Game or operational purposes, including:
- balancing;
- security;
- anti-abuse;
- correction of bugs;
- exploit prevention;
- migration;
- compatibility;
- technical maintenance;
- platform changes;
- Game-economy integrity;
- removal of obsolete functionality;
- legal compliance;
- Second Life policy compliance;
- introduction of new gameplay.
Possible changes may affect:
- progression;
- rewards;
- cooldowns;
- drops;
- recipes;
- Missions;
- Hunt;
- Mastery;
- Houses;
- virtual resources;
- virtual inventory;
- gameplay states.
This provision does not authorize arbitrary removal of mandatory legal rights.
32. LEGACY SYSTEMS
Chronicles of Undead may contain historical:
- database fields;
- object names;
- identifiers;
- compatibility code;
- legacy terminology.
The existence of a legacy technical identifier does not mean the legacy mechanic remains part of current gameplay.
Current supported server behaviour and official Game Rules determine current Game functionality.
Legacy systems may be removed after migration where reasonably necessary.
33. SUPPORTED SOFTWARE
Only officially supported Chronicles of Undead HUDs, scripts and objects are guaranteed to be eligible for current server functionality.
Legacy, modified, duplicated or unauthorized clients may be:
- rejected;
- restricted;
- incompatible;
- denied access.
Users may be required to upgrade to a supported Game version.
The Operator is not required to maintain perpetual compatibility with obsolete software.
34. AVAILABILITY
Chronicles of Undead relies partly upon third-party infrastructure beyond the Operator's exclusive control.
Examples include:
- Second Life;
- Region servers;
- HTTP connectivity;
- hosting;
- internet routing.
The Game is provided on an as-available basis.
Temporary interruptions may occur.
The Operator does not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
This clause does not exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded.
35. SUPPORT
The official in-HUD support path is:
AETERNUS > SUPPORT
Support may be used to report:
- technical problems;
- transaction problems;
- incorrect Game state;
- exploit reports;
- security reports;
- sanctions;
- abuse;
- data-protection requests;
- Game-profile deletion requests.
Useful reports should include sufficient information to identify the relevant event.
The Operator may review applicable server and Game records to investigate the issue.
Support is provided on a reasonable best-effort basis unless a specific response obligation is imposed by applicable law.
36. MODERATION AND ENFORCEMENT
Where reasonably supported by evidence, violations may result in:
- warning;
- correction of invalid Game state;
- invalidation of exploited rewards;
- feature restrictions;
- temporary suspension;
- permanent exclusion from Chronicles of Undead.
Sanctions should be proportionate to:
- severity;
- intentionality;
- recurrence;
- security impact;
- effect on other Users;
- available evidence.
Serious intentional exploitation, security attacks or sanction evasion may justify immediate protective restrictions.
37. AUTOMATED SECURITY RESTRICTIONS
Chronicles of Undead may use automated technical controls to reject or temporarily restrict suspicious, malformed, unauthorized or duplicated requests.
Automated technical security action does not necessarily constitute a final disciplinary finding.
Where appropriate and reasonably possible, significant enforcement disputes may be submitted for human review through official support.
Automated gameplay calculations are used primarily to determine Game state and are not intended to make decisions producing independent legal effects concerning the User outside Chronicles of Undead.
38. GAME ADMINISTRATION AND ROLEPLAY AUTHORITY
The King, Regents, Wardens and other official roles may exercise authority inside the fictional and administrative structure of AETERNUS according to applicable Game Rules.
Their decisions concerning:
- roleplay;
- House roles;
- titles;
- Game participation;
- administrative gameplay matters
may be final within the internal Game process where the applicable rules so provide.
No in-game decision removes a User's rights under applicable law, Linden Lab rules or mandatory consumer/data-protection law.
39. EVIDENCE AND RECORD REVIEW
For technical, security and Game-administration purposes, the Operator may review relevant available evidence including:
- authoritative database records;
- validated gameplay logs;
- transaction records;
- server timestamps;
- support communications;
- applicable screenshots;
- Game event records;
- moderation records.
No category of evidence is automatically conclusive merely because it exists.
Technical evidence should be evaluated in context.
Knowingly forged evidence or intentionally false reports may themselves constitute a violation.
40. PRIVACY — DATA CONTROLLER
For personal-data processing directly controlled by Chronicles of Undead:
Data Controller: Dylan Canziani
Privacy requests may currently be submitted through:
@dylan86bo resident
or:
AETERNUS > SUPPORT
The official Chronicles of Undead website may also publish updated privacy contact information.
41. PERSONAL DATA PROCESSED
Depending upon the Game functions used, Chronicles of Undead may process data including:
- SL UUID;
- avatar name;
- Game profile information;
- Bloodline;
- House membership;
- House-membership history where used;
- progression;
- Level;
- EXP;
- titles;
- Game status;
- virtual resources;
- Vault balances;
- virtual inventories;
- Hunt events;
- Mission events;
- Craft events;
- reward records;
- Game transactions;
- support communications;
- security events;
- enforcement records;
- relevant timestamps;
- technical identifiers generated by authorized Game systems.
The Game is not designed to require the User to provide unnecessary real-world personal information through normal gameplay.
Users should not submit sensitive real-world information through Game support unless genuinely necessary.
42. PURPOSES OF DATA PROCESSING
Personal data may be processed where necessary for purposes including:
- creating the Citizen profile;
- identifying the correct Second Life avatar;
- delivering Game functionality;
- maintaining progression;
- maintaining inventories;
- processing Hunt activity;
- processing Missions;
- processing Crafting;
- operating Houses;
- maintaining Vault functionality;
- processing authorized Game transactions;
- synchronizing HUD and server state;
- maintaining security;
- preventing duplication and exploitation;
- investigating technical errors;
- handling support;
- enforcing Game Rules;
- resolving disputes;
- complying with legal obligations.
Data will not be used for unrelated purposes without an appropriate legal basis.
43. GDPR LEGAL BASES
Where Regulation (EU) 2016/679 applies, processing may rely upon the legal basis appropriate to the relevant purpose.
This may include:
Performance of the agreement where processing is necessary to provide Chronicles of Undead functions requested by the User.
Legitimate interests where necessary to protect Game security, prevent fraud or abuse, maintain technical integrity, investigate incidents or defend legal claims, provided applicable User rights and freedoms do not override those interests.
Legal obligation where processing is required by applicable law.
Consent where a particular processing operation legally requires consent.
Consent will not be described as the legal basis where another basis actually applies merely because the User has accepted this EULA.
44. DATA MINIMIZATION
Chronicles of Undead should process only data reasonably relevant to legitimate Game, security, support or legal purposes.
Collection of unnecessary real-world personal information should be avoided.
Support reports should contain only information reasonably required to investigate the issue.
45. DATA RETENTION
Personal data will be retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for the relevant lawful purpose.
Retention criteria may include:
- existence of the active Game profile;
- requirement to maintain progression;
- security requirements;
- prevention of repeat abuse;
- unresolved support cases;
- dispute or claim periods;
- applicable legal obligations.
Active gameplay records are ordinarily retained while the relevant Game profile exists and while they remain necessary to provide the requested persistent Game functions.
When an active Game profile is permanently deleted, profile, progression, inventory, Vault, Mission and House-membership data that have no continuing lawful purpose should be removed or irreversibly anonymized. Technical or security records retained after profile deletion must be limited to what remains necessary for documented security, anti-abuse, transaction, dispute, legal-claim or legal-compliance purposes.
Where information is no longer necessary for a lawful purpose, it should be deleted or anonymized as appropriate.
Nothing in this section promises immediate destruction of information that must or may lawfully be retained for security, legal claims or mandatory compliance.
46. DATA RECIPIENTS
Personal data may be accessed only where reasonably necessary by:
- the Data Controller;
- authorized collaborators;
- authorized technical providers;
- hosting or infrastructure providers where applicable;
- competent authorities where legally required.
Information may also be disclosed where lawfully required to Linden Lab or another competent entity in connection with abuse, security, legal compliance or platform enforcement.
Chronicles of Undead does not sell Citizen personal data to advertisers or data brokers.
47. DATA SUBJECT RIGHTS
Where applicable, a User may exercise rights including:
- access;
- rectification;
- erasure;
- restriction;
- objection;
- data portability where legally applicable;
- withdrawal of consent where consent is the legal basis.
A request may be sent to the Data Controller through an official privacy contact channel.
The Operator may take reasonable steps to verify that the requester controls the relevant Second Life identity before disclosing or altering Game-profile information.
Verification should be proportionate and should not require unnecessary additional personal data.
48. RIGHT TO COMPLAIN
Where the GDPR applies, the User has the right to lodge a complaint with a competent data-protection supervisory authority.
For the Italian supervisory authority, this is the:
Garante per la protezione dei dati personali
Nothing in this EULA prevents a User from exercising that right.
49. RESPONSE TO PRIVACY REQUESTS
Privacy requests will be handled within the time limits required by applicable data-protection law.
Where permitted by law, the Operator may refuse or charge a reasonable fee for requests that are demonstrably manifestly unfounded or excessive.
Any such decision remains subject to applicable legal requirements.
50. PERMANENT GAME-PROFILE DELETION
A Citizen may request permanent deletion of their Chronicles of Undead Game profile through the official support system.
Where available:
AETERNUS > SUPPORT
Deletion of the Chronicles of Undead Game profile is separate from deletion of the User's Second Life account.
Permanent deletion may also occur under the continuous DEAD inactivity rule in Section 27: warning from the tenth consecutive day and deletion eligibility from the fifteenth consecutive day if the Citizen has not validly revived and no applicable server-recognized protection suspends the inactivity clock.
Following valid deletion:
- the active Citizen profile and progression may be deleted or become permanently inaccessible;
- virtual inventory and supported Craft inventory may be deleted or become permanently inaccessible;
- Vault data associated solely with the active profile may be deleted or become permanently inaccessible;
- active Mission assignments and progress may be deleted or become permanently inaccessible;
- House membership may terminate;
- restoration may not be possible.
Technical, transaction, security, anti-abuse, enforcement and legal-claim records linked to the SL UUID may be retained only where and for as long as a separate lawful purpose justifies that retention. Retained records do not restore the deleted active Game profile.
Deletion of the Game profile does not require deletion of information that applicable law permits or requires to be retained for another lawful purpose.
51. SECURITY OF PERSONAL DATA
Chronicles of Undead will use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the nature of the Game data being processed.
No internet-connected system can guarantee absolute security.
Users must not attempt to defeat technical safeguards.
A security incident will be handled according to applicable legal obligations.
52. SECOND LIFE PRIVACY
Linden Lab independently processes data relating to Second Life accounts and platform usage under its own terms and privacy rules.
Dylan Canziani is not the Data Controller for independent processing performed by Linden Lab merely because Chronicles of Undead operates within Second Life.
53. CHANGES TO THE GAME
Technical or gameplay changes may take effect where reasonably necessary for legitimate purposes identified in this EULA.
Urgent security changes may be deployed immediately where advance notice would:
- create a security risk;
- facilitate exploitation;
- prevent effective emergency remediation.
This does not authorize arbitrary contractual changes unrelated to a legitimate reason.
54. CHANGES TO THIS EULA
This EULA may be updated where reasonably necessary because of:
- changes to Chronicles of Undead;
- changes to Second Life;
- legal or regulatory changes;
- security requirements;
- new Game systems;
- correction of errors;
- clarification of ambiguous provisions.
The revised document must identify its version and effective date.
The revised canonical text must be published at https://chronicles-of-undead.com/RPGRules.html.
For material contractual changes, Users should be given reasonable notice and an opportunity to review the changed terms.
Where an express re-acceptance mechanism is required by the Game or applicable law, continued registered use may be conditioned upon that re-acceptance.
If the User does not agree with the updated terms, the User must discontinue use of Chronicles of Undead.
Mandatory accrued rights remain unaffected.
55. ASSENT EVIDENCE AND VALIDATED HUD USE
Chronicles of Undead may maintain evidence relating to the terms made available to a specific Game profile and the acceptance or validated-use event that actually occurred.
Depending on the implemented flow, such evidence may include appropriate technical information such as:
- User identifier;
- EULA version;
- EULA effective date;
- cryptographic hash of the canonical document;
- event timestamp;
- actual event or audit method;
- official HUD version and build;
- Second Life transport headers and technical identifiers where lawfully processed;
- whether the evidence passed the applicable server-side verification.
The current audit method may identify a validated official-HUD request as HUD_VALID_SL_PING_USE. This describes validated HUD use. It is not an assertion that the User clicked an ACCEPT button.
An express-click record may be described as such only where the client actually presented the relevant choice and the server received reliable evidence of that specific choice.
If the canonical document, transport evidence, timestamp, schema or other required evidence cannot be verified, the system must not create or label new evidence as verified acceptance merely by assumption.
An EULA-audit failure is separate from HUD identity and gameplay authorization. It does not require otherwise valid gameplay to be blocked, and it does not convert insufficient evidence into acceptance.
Any acceptance record must itself be processed in accordance with applicable data-protection requirements.
A technical acceptance record does not override mandatory legal requirements concerning transparency or contractual validity.
56. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Nothing in this EULA excludes or limits liability where exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.
To the maximum extent legally permitted, the Operator is not responsible for purely virtual loss resulting from:
- valid Game consequences;
- valid balancing;
- legitimate security action;
- legitimate enforcement;
- unsupported software;
- temporary external infrastructure failure;
- independent Second Life outages.
No clause excludes liability for wilful misconduct, gross negligence or other liability that applicable law does not permit to be excluded.
57. THIRD-PARTY FAILURES
The Operator is not responsible for independent actions of:
- Linden Lab;
- Estate owners;
- Region owners;
- internet providers;
- infrastructure providers;
- other Users
to the extent the relevant event is genuinely outside the Operator's legal responsibility or reasonable control.
Mandatory liability rules remain unaffected.
58. USER RESPONSIBILITY
The User may be responsible, to the extent permitted by law, for direct losses or reasonable costs caused by deliberate:
- unlawful conduct;
- attacks against COU infrastructure;
- fraudulent transactions;
- serious security violations;
- material breaches of this EULA.
Nothing in this provision creates liability beyond that permitted under applicable law.
59. TERMINATION
The User may stop using Chronicles of Undead at any time.
The Operator may terminate or suspend the Game license where justified under this EULA.
Termination of the Game license does not automatically terminate a Second Life account.
Clauses that by their nature must survive termination may remain effective, including applicable provisions concerning:
- intellectual property;
- security;
- legal claims;
- data retention;
- dispute resolution.
60. GOVERNING LAW
Subject to mandatory rules applicable to the User, this EULA is governed by Italian law.
A choice of Italian law does not deprive a consumer of mandatory protection that applicable law does not permit the parties to exclude.
61. JURISDICTION
Where mandatory consumer-jurisdiction rules apply, those rules prevail.
Nothing in this EULA requires a consumer to surrender a mandatory right to bring proceedings before a court that applicable law designates as competent.
For disputes for which a valid contractual choice of forum is legally permitted and no mandatory consumer forum applies, the competent courts of Milan, Italy may have jurisdiction.
62. INTERNAL GAME DISPUTES VS LEGAL DISPUTES
A decision made through Chronicles of Undead moderation may resolve an internal gameplay matter.
It does not prevent either party from exercising legal rights available under mandatory applicable law.
Game moderation and judicial/legal dispute resolution are separate matters.
63. SEVERABILITY
If any provision of this EULA is invalid or unenforceable, it shall be ineffective only to the minimum extent required by applicable law.
The remainder of the EULA continues to apply where legally possible.
An invalid provision must not be interpreted to create broader rights for the Operator than applicable law permits.
64. NO WAIVER
Failure to enforce a right in one situation does not constitute permanent waiver of that right.
65. ENTIRE AGREEMENT
This EULA contains the general contractual conditions governing Chronicles of Undead.
Specific current Game Rules may supplement this EULA for individual gameplay systems.
No unofficial:
- player statement;
- guide;
- third-party object;
- third-party script;
- forum post;
- chat statement
modifies this EULA.
66. CONFLICT BETWEEN OLD AND CURRENT DOCUMENTATION
Legacy Chronicles of Undead documentation may describe obsolete systems.
Where an older document conflicts with a later officially effective EULA or current supported COU version, the newer applicable official material governs the current Game, subject to mandatory law.
The Operator should clearly identify obsolete public documentation as archived or legacy to prevent confusion.
67. OFFICIAL VERSION
The official version of this EULA must display:
- title;
- version number;
- effective date.
The canonical public location is https://chronicles-of-undead.com/RPGRules.html.
The server-side audit may bind an EULA version to the SHA-256 hash of the exact canonical file. Because a file cannot reliably display its own final hash without changing that hash, the authoritative hash is maintained in the corresponding server configuration and audit record.
Where multiple copies exist, the current officially published version controls future use from its effective date, subject to legally required notice or consent.
68. NO LINDEN LAB AFFILIATION
Chronicles of Undead — AETERNUS is an independent Second Life experience.
It is not represented as being sponsored, operated or administered by Linden Lab.
Second Life, Linden Lab, Linden Dollar and related marks remain the property of their respective owners.
